3030 Poetry Challenge Day 8

Prompt for April 8th:Rusty Cage

Some people say they live in a gilded cage,
by this I think they mean
their life is luxurious,
to the extreme,
and yet they are trapped.
Does the comfort make it any less a cage?
All I know is the world is round and we have no way of getting off,
unless we choose to cut the cord that binds us to it.
All we can do is plod along,
imagine we are not trapped at all,
that we have choice.
In this way, rusty or gold,
the bars will fade away.
