3030 Poetry Challenge day 16

Prompt for April 16th: After the math

– at which point I debated whether I should stop doing the challenge – but no, I’m carrying on…

There’s something about the way he speaks, the words he uses, how he uses them.

Life seems more exciting

when it’s come out of his mouth.

Mine is so stilted in comparison,

so dry, so restrained.

It’s not just the words,

like eggplant, ‘erbs and math,

it’s how his face lights up,

as if his world is new and uncharted,

as if he is speaking for the very first time, and to me.
